Mike Peters

After six seasons away, Mike Peters has returned to EMS ISD to take over as the head football coach and campus coordinator of the Saginaw Rough Riders.  

Coach Peters began his coaching career at Whitney High School, before taking an assistant coaching position at Boswell in 2004. He helped Mike Lebby start the Saginaw High School football program in 2005. Coach Peters was with the Rough Riders for 10 seasons; as an offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and was the head coach from 2010-2015. He is the winningest coach in Rough Rider history and led the team to the playoffs two years in a row. His 2012 team currently holds the school record for wins in a season with eight. 

After leaving Saginaw, he went west to Fort Stockton ISD to be their athletic director and head football coach. While at Fort Stockton, he led his football teams to three playoff appearances, and their first two playoff wins in school history. He's tallied three coach of the year awards and was the athletic director of the year in 2020. Coach Peters also implemented strength and summer programs at the high school and middle school level.

Coach Peters is a west Texas native, born and raised in Pecos. He graduated from Angelo State University and is married to Prissy and they have two kids; Faulynne, a former EMS ISD employee and their son Hunter is a graduate of Saginaw High School.
